Zwift Winter-Spring League Rnd 12

Now that the leaves are appearing on the trees and the temperatures are beginning to rise again, it’s (sadly) time to draw the Triathlon Ireland Winter-Spring league to a close.

We’ve seen fantastic participation and even better racing over the past 11 rounds – in fact, as we head in to the last race, there is more than one category in league up for grabs!

And that’s perhaps fitting, as the 12th and final round of the league is going to be staged over one of the toughest challenges on Zwift – a race up Alpe d’Zwift with a mind boggling 1,045 metres of vertical ascent!

Watopia’s Roof

At 17.3km, there isn’t a lot of distance to cover on the Road to Sky but that just makes the vertical ascent even more brutal – every hundred metres can last an eternity on Zwift’s most challenging climb.

Check out the course profile on ZwiftInsider and if you’re wondering how long it’s going to take you (budget for more than an hour!), there’s also a very useful guide which matches W/Kg on the climb to duration.

Round 12 is set up as a regular race – so you can choose whatever bike you wish (Pro Tip – go light). Drafting will be switched on – there is a downhill run in to the mountain so sticking in the wheels here will pay off, however once you start heading up the draft won’t be of much benefit.

Finally, all categories will be set off at the exact same time – this is an all out scramble to the top!

If you’re curious about who else will be on the start line the current entry list is on ZwiftPower will be live around 24hrs before the race.

LEAGUE AFTER ROUND 11

Check out the current league standings following Round 11 in our league update.

Note: The league table is manually compiled only once per week. This happens on Thursday mornings following the previous night’s race.

Any errors of changes that need to be made to the previous week’s table are implemented at this time as well so if you’ve been in touch with a change request during the week bear with us until the Thursday update.

NEW TO ZWIFT RACING?

If you’re reading this and haven’t tried Zwift Racing yet – we strongly encourage you to jump right in! It’s a lot of fun and you’ll find lots of familiar names from the domestic scene racing alongside you in the league. Most Triathlon Ireland clubs have teams and getting started is not as difficult as you might imagine. All you need is an internet connection, a smart turbo trainer and a heart rate monitor.

Check out our Zwift Racing Start-Up guide and join us this Wednesday.
