World Cup Bronze for McCarthy

Donnacha McCarthy took home a superb bronze medal from his latest World Cup race in Spain over the weekend.
McCarthy, guided by Niall Cornyn placed third at World Triathlon Para Cup A Coruna, equaling his best ever triathlon performance at World Cup level.
Delighted
The race was only the pair’s second as a team & comes after last week’s 5th place at World Para Cup Besancon.
Speaking after the race, McCarthy said he was ‘absolutely delighted’.
“The course, on paper looked quite easy but the weather conditions made it quite tough on the day. Very windy, wet, very much like at home. So, yeah, it made it tough for the swim and the bike was quite windy as well. So we just just pushed hard for an entire race.”
The event was the last in the Para Olympics qualifying period and although McCarthy won’t qualify automatically it could help his chances of a bi-partite invitation
