CAT A RESULTS

MEN’S CAT A

The big question after the opening round of WattFest 2021 was would anyone be able to stop Enda Bagnall from winning another league title? Step forward Jack Kennedy. Kennedy was ultra consistent throughout the league with four podium race results – he took over the top position after Round 7 and stayed there to the end with a final total of 306 points.

That said, Cat A was incredibly competitive and only decided by a handful of points. And while he didn’t win this time around, Bagnall was only eight points off the top (on 298) – a tiny margin. And underlining the competitiveness of the A league was Stephen Mulberry who put in some very strong performances and ended up on 288 points.

WOMEN’S CAT A

Throughout the weeks, the women’s Cat A was closely fought between Waterford’s Nicola Kehoe and TriLimits’ Helen Perry. On more than one occassion, the result came down to a sprint between the two. Showing incredible consistency to win six of the seven rounds she contested, Nicola Kehoe wins the A Category with 366 points.

Helen Perry, with two wins and four second place finishes, ended up in second with a points tally of 346 after nine weeks of strong racing.

In third on 265 points is Perry’s clubmate Susan O’Neill.

WOMEN’S CAT A CLUB COMPETITION

With three riders contesting the club competition, TriLimits Triathlon Club have won the Women’s Cat A Club Competition. The team of Helen Perry, Susan O’Neill and Tracey McArdle earned 606 points over the nine WattFest rounds.

In second, represented by league winner Nicola Kehoe, is Waterford Tri Club on 366 points.

MEN’S CAT A CLUB COMPETITION

Like the individual competition, the Men’s Cat A Club league was tight right through to the end.

Edederry’s two man team of Alan Connolly and Enda Bagnall claimed the top position with 373 points with Belpark’s pairing of Adriele Prina and Luke McMullan amassing 328 for second place.

Stephen Mulberry was Northwest TC’s sole scorer – he built up 290 points from his six races to claim bronze for his club.

CAT B RESULTS

MEN’S CAT B

What a finish to Men’s Cat B!

After moving to within 11 points last week, second placed Chris Gallagher made his bid for overall league victory on Alpe du Zwift but fell agonisingly short.

With league leader Quinton Burke sitting out the last two rounds, Gallagher needed to score the maximum 61 points to win the league outright. He finished third on the climb but with race winner Darryl Cairns excluded by ZwiftPower for not having heart rate data, Gallagher was bumped up to second on the night giving him 56 points – three points short of what he would have needed.

And so overall victory stays with Quinton Burke who claimed his 297 point total with four podium positions – a very consistent performance throughout the nine weeks of the league.

Mark Kenny was the big mover of the final round, his second place finish last night gave him maximum points with Cairns’s exclusion and allowed him to drop a low scoring race. As a result he leapfrogged Owen Barron and claimed third overall in the league with 279 points.

WOMEN’S CAT B

We knew it was going to come down to the final climb on Alpe du Zwift to decide the winner of the women’s B league, and what a finish it was!

Beáta Kis put in another strong performance on the climb to secure the league win (331 points), just nine points ahead of Elaine Lally in second (322 points). Kis scored her first win in Round 4 of WattFest and has been consistent each week, completing eight of nine rounds to maximise her points scoring.

With no other riders completing the required six rounds, there are two top placings.

WOMEN’S CAT B CLUB COMPETITION

Reflecting the individual competition, there were two clubs eligible for placings with six rounds completed.

Elaine Lally’s and Carmel Hayes’ Lanesboro TC have won the club competition on 370 points. Beáta Kis’ 3d Tri Club have finished second on 331 points.

MEN’S CAT B CLUB COMPETITION

Omagh TC won the Men’s Cat B competition on the final round of racing with a come-from-behind performance from Michael Holland and Darragh Lagan. The pair netted 88 points for their club in the final round which when added to the efforts from club mate Damian Strain earlier in the league saw Omagh finish on 483 points.

After leading at various times during the league, Tri an Mhí finish up on second place on 459 points fromQuinton Burke and Kevin Feeley.

Omagh TC slip from first to third on the final round and end the league on 452 points earned by Mark Thompson, Lee Woods and T ang.

CAT C RESULTS

MEN’S CAT C

Gearoid Taylor (Boru TC) put his stamp on the Men’s Cat C league last night by winning his cat outright and claiming another 61 points. He ended up on 308 points – 18 ahead of second placed Krzysztof Matecki who also lined out last night and improved his total by 12 – a gain that was crucial in the end because third placed finisher Brian Baker was also on the move, picking up nine points. In the end Matecki held on to second with 290 with Baker 11 back on 279 points.

WOMEN’S CAT C

There have been some extremely close fought battles in recent weeks in the C league, and last night was no different. After the Sea to Sky route, only 19 seconds separated first and second. On 366 points, Louise Mulvaney posted her seventh win of the league last night to win this category overall!

After sitting out last night, weekly consistency throughout paid off for Omagh’s Helen Howe who takes home the silver on 319 points.

Taking on the challenge of Alpe du Zwift last night was rewarded in points, with one of the biggest moves of the week resulting in a bronze WattFest finish! Lanesboro’s Sinead McHale finished second on the climb to move into third overall on 314 points.

Shoutout to top six finishers Cathy Cunningham, Roberta Hanly and Tara J NTC on a great league!

WOMEN’S CAT C CLUB COMPETITION

Omagh Triathlon Club have looked strong from the off with consistent performances from team riders Lucy McDermott, Helen Howe, Cathy Cunningham and Sinead Donnelly all adding to their unbeatable tally of 828 points. In second on 561 are Lanesboro TC represented by Roberta Hanly, Sinead McHale and Carmel Hayes.

Represented by Tara J NTC, Naas moved into third spot in recent week’s and Tara’s performances ensured they stayed there, finishing on 288 points.

MEN’S CAT C CLUB COMPETITION

First place in the Men’s Cat C competition goes to Lanesboro and their incredible strength in depth. Throughout the league Lanesboro recorded 24 scoring performances – a turnout that guaranteed them victory. Take a bow Brendan O’Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, J. Healy, Thomas Conneally, Sean Farrell, and James Gallagher!

Belpark and Cork TC had an exciting battle in WattFest21 with just 29 points in it at the end. Belpark’s riders; Daragh O’Murchu, Alan Heade, Brian Lavery, David Keenan, Eamonn Hodge, Paul McGovern and Tom Snoden pulled in 591 for the Dublin club to see them claim second overall, against Cork TC’s 562 which was earned by Peter Blissett, James Fahey, Peter Meaney, Kenneth Mulvaney, Dusan Rozvadsky and Jeff Skeg Castles.

CAT D RESULTS

MEN’S CAT D

Although all the D Cat league contenders sat out last night’s race, the competition could not have been more exciting over the course of the league. With the top three riders trading blows week after week, things were only decided by a handful of points.

Niall Byrne is the Cat winner on 321 points and podiumed on every one of this scoring races. Michael Feeney claimed second on 310 points and Paul Henry’s late league dash saw him secure third on 305 points.

WOMEN’S CAT D

Cork Tri’s Kara Appelbe has improved her results each week since the first round and finished the year with a WattFest league win! On 351 points, Appelbe sat out last night’s climb but with four wins, a second and a third placed finish counting towards her total, the work was done.

Louise McGirl also sat out last night’s event and finishes second in the women’s Cat D league on 319 points.

TriLimits’ Lorraine Gillespie finished on her first podium last week in third place, and won last night on Alpe du Zwift! Gillespie finishes third overall on 291 points.

WOMEN’S CAT D CLUB COMPETITION

A huge TriLimits team consisting of Alison Farquhar, Sarah Halliday, Nicola Henry, Tracey McArdle, Lorraine Gillespie and Niamh McGirr held their extensive lead of 824 points to win the club competition.

Michael Feeney and Vincent Guerin amassed 413 to get Blackwater TC in to second while Pulse TC finish third on 321 – thanks to the scores of sole rider Niall Byrne.

ISSUES OR MISSING RESULTS

Unlike previous Triathlon Ireland leagues, WattFest is 100pc contained on the Zwift and ZwiftPower platforms which means the league table calculations are automatically derived from the race results.

If you don’t see yourself on the league table, your first port of call should be to check the Zwift Power FAQs and then the ZwiftPower support desk (at the bottom of the FAQ page).

Triathlon Ireland doesn’t have the ability to reverse or edit race results but if you have a question you can’t find the answer to by all means email us and we’ll do our best to help.

If you were ‘filtered’ from any of the races it will have been for a technical reason which again, Triathlon Ireland doesn’t have the power to override. We know getting DQ’d can be frustrating and sometimes not even within the control of the rider.

Here’s a run down of the main reasons a rider will find themselves ‘filtered’ out of the results.
