COURSE PREVIEW
There will be an early swim start on Saturday September 25th with the first wave in the water at 8:15am.
Due to Covid guidelines there will be a split transition with the swim start approximately 300m from transition. Those familiar with Westport Triathlon will recognise the swim start as taking place in its’ usual location.
The swim will be a 1 loop course, with right hand turns only and will finish at “The point” at Westport quay . The transition area is just a short run from the swim exit. Here you will collect your bike and cycle along Westport quay before turning right onto the coast road for a 40k out and back on the same cycle route as 2019.
The route is a relatively flat and fast bike course that takes in the scenic coast road and Croagh Patrick. This bike course is made for the fast cyclists and some PB’s are expected…West of Ireland weather allowing of course!
Once you get back to ‘the point’ in Westport you will then rack your bike and head out onto the run leg.
There is a new run route in place this year due to renovation work in Westport House. This new route has it all, from slight drags to more testing sharp climbs, and faster downhill sections to make it an exciting course for everyone. The race can be won or lost on these hills!

In line with guidelines there will be strict controls in place that will restrict spectator access. There will also be an expectation that Covid guidelines are followed with an emphasis on the athletes to be personally responsible . The cooperation and good will of the people and businesses of Westport has made this race possible and we want everyone to respect this.
