Galway TC Achieves Bronze Club Standard

Galway TC has become the first club to be recognised under Triathlon Ireland’s Evolve Club Standards Programme.

It has achieved the Bronze Accreditation Level, a recognition of the governance standards Galway TC has put in place to make the club a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all genders and ages.

The Chair of Galway Triathlon Club Francis Yates explained why his club committee applied for the scheme:

“We want our members to be assured that we are operating to the highest level of governance and to use it to potentially attract new members – it was also an opportunity to get all of our documentation and policies up to date and in line with Triathlon Ireland guidelines as over the years these had fallen a bit by the wayside.”

He said while the application process did require a some time investment, it had unforeseen benefits outside of the award itself. “[The scheme] reminded us of how out of date our website was – this was a welcome wake up call which got us to invest in new website which has ultimately made the committee’s life much easier with the new functionality.”

And with Bronze in the bag, Galway now has ambitions to go further:
“We will be perusing silver next… ultimately our goal will be to achieve gold in the long term,” Mr Yates said.
