Five Mayo Clubs Host Women’s Try a Tri Programme

Five Mayo-based clubs have joined forces to host what promises to be a fun and educational eight week programme, finishing with its own Try-a-Tri event. If you’ve ever thought of trying a triathlon, and are based in the West of Ireland, this is perfect opportunity!
The programme is being run in conjunction with Mayo Sports Partnership and Triathlon Ireland with the aim of encouraging more women to complete their first triathlon in 2021.

WOMEN’S ‘NEW TO TRI’ PROGRAMME
Castlebar Triathlon, Grainne Uaile Triathlon Club, Liquid Motion Triathlon Club, Swinford Triathlon Club and Westport Triathlon Club are running a joint ‘New to Tri’ Programme over the coming weeks.
Run in line of all Covid-19 safety guidelines – the beginner’s programme will be run in each club with training plans, group training sessions and support given over the eight weeks leading up to a ‘Try a Tri’ event. All the participants will take part in a 300 metre swim, 15km cycle and a 3km run on the 10th July at Dugort Beach, Achill, Co. Mayo.
The programme costs €50 and includes club membership of your chosen Triathlon Club, a Triathlon Ireland training licence, participation in the event on the 10th of July and a finishers t-shirt for when you cross that finish line!
If you are based in Connacht and are interested in taking part in the programme being run at one of these clubs, please contact Deirdre Donnelly of Mayo Sports Partnership, dedonnelly@mayococo.ie, for further information. Registration can also be done at the launch night taking place virtually on Zoom on Wednesday, 26 May at 8pm.
