Beat your best at Ballyhaas – Youth Series

This year Mallow Tri Club is proud to host the Youth Series, supported by Costcutter Aquathlon race for the 12-13yr and 14-15yr old junior athletes. Alongside the aquathlon, the 16-17yr sprint distance race will be combined with the adult BMW Triathlon National Series race.

The Course

The swim is a rolling start into the crystal-clear waters of Ballyhass Lakes. The run course is contained within the grounds of Ballyhass Adventure Centre. The run starts in the transition field and quickly moves onto a tarmac surface to allow everyone to get their legs moving quickly!

Parent/Guardians will wait at the finish line to cheer their athlete’s into the finish where they can then return to transition and collect their belongings.

Sprint Distance Race

The 16-17yr old junior athlete race will run alongside the BMW Triathlon National Series sprint distance triathlon.

Course Preview

The swim will take place in the waters of Ballyhass Lakes. Athletes will enter the lake via the pontoon on the Northern side of the large lake and will swim East where they will loop around the buoys and follow the course. Swimming West with the sun on your back onto the “beach landing” there will be marshals in place to see you out of the water.

The bike is a fast course with only 187m of elevation over the 22km. The bike loop moves in an anti-clockwise direction. Be sure to check out the route map here.

Through the transition area and out onto the run course. Starting on the grass but quickly moving on to the gravel of the entrance drive. As you exit the main gate, keep to your right and run west along the road into Cecilstown. In Cecilstown you will turn right for the last 2.2 km of the run to the finish line – it’s all downhill from here.
