Zwift Autumn League – Round 5 Results

Zwift Autumn League Richmond

Round 5 of the Zwift Autumn League saw nearly 300 riders tackle the Richmond UCI World Champs course, one of Zwift’s most popular race tracks with lots of long flats to sit in the wheels before a one-two-three combination of a vicious kick, and two long drags to the line.

And with two laps of the course to complete, there were riders all over the course by the time 32kms had passed.

Round 5 also marked the point at which we finish out run through different worlds – next week we head back to London for the second time in the league before following the pattern of rounds 3 (Seaside Sprint) and 4 (Watopia Figure 8). That means the next time we race on Richmond will be in the final round of the league, just before Christmas!

It’s never too late to join the league – we have everything you need to know is in our Zwift Quick Start Guide.

Results

The full results from Race 5 are on the event’s ZwiftPower page.

ZwiftPower also has the overall detailed individual and club leaderboards for all cats from A to D.

The Zwift Autumn League is open to riders across the world – this is one of the exciting and unique aspects of Zwift racing! On this page, we filter out the non-Triathlon Ireland members and clubs/teams to give an overview of the community competition in the Zwift Autumn League.

Why Am I Not There?

If you are unsure of how ZwiftPower applies its scoring system, scroll down to the bottom of the page, which is also where you’ll need to go if you were one of the 61 riders who were ‘filtered’ from last night’s event. This is a pretty high number of filtered riders – the majority were for HR, the absence of Heart Rate data – this can be fixed people! Connect your HR next week cause we want you in the results sheet!

Analysis

No change at the top of the men’s individual A League rankings but in the women’s league, Heather Foley’s absence allowed Emma Hingston the opportunity to move in to first place with a superb 25 points netted last night.

In the A team rankings, the scrap continues with the top teams all picking up similar points to maintain the status quo.

Analysis
3D Triathlon Club now occupy the top two positions in the men’s B League with Jim McHale’s consistency seeing him move in to 3rd. The women’s table remains unchanged with Beata Kis leading on 21 points.

In the team table, Newry TC are the big movers, overtaking Piranha to move in to third place – but only just – with two points separating them and Pulse a handful behind, the podium is very much in play.

Analysis

Niall McMonagle regains the lead in the C league but with just three points separating him and Martin Feeney, the scrap continues – especially considering Feeney outsprinted McMonagle in last night’s race – this one looks like it could go down to the wire. Tony Bedell sat out last night and drops from 1st to 3rd. No change in the women’s league with leader Maeve Pevoy missing last night’s race, second placed Diane Cordner did pick up an additional 8 points to close the gap however.

Analysis

While Alan Mitchell cements his lead at the top of the men’s D league, behind him James Gallagher and Niall Byrne are having one of the battles of the entire league, trading places each week with a mere six points separating them.

In the women’s standings, Kim Campbell has stormed in to second place and lies just behind the leader Priscilla Crombie with Catherine Hanly dropping to third.

There’s lots of movement in the D Team League with Lanesboro moving in to the lead and and Lisburn overtaking Belpark to occupy third place. Cork Tri are the other big mover and now lie tied with Belpark for 4th on 279 points.

ZwiftPower’s Scoring System

Zwift racing differs from what we’ve all come to expect from in-real-life triathlon racing.

Clubs

While the league is open to everybody, the club rankings in this race report only take Triathlon Ireland clubs in to account. If you are one of the many riders who had their club listed as ‘Triathlon Ireland’ you won’t be included in the club rankings.

However it’s simple to set your up a profile for your local triathlon club on ZwiftPower and use it for your future races.

In fact, this is something we’d urge you to do.

Gender

ZwiftPower applies points to riders according to their position in the race – regardless of gender. This isn’t an ideal points solution and is something we’d like to see changed (so that women have a completely separate points allocation). However, we are working within the confines of ZwiftPower, which while imperfect is an incredibly powerful platform in other respects so bear with us.

Filtered Riders

A relatively large number of riders were ‘filtered’ or excluded from the results sheet for various infringements. The two most common were HR (having no heart rate data) and ZP (not having a verified power meter.

While Zwift racing is primarily about having fun, we have a responsibility to ensure that any race that carries our name is also fair so unfortunately if you were excluded or ‘filtered’ it is for a legitimate reason. Filtering is an automatic, data based decision by ZwiftPower designed to ensure an above board race.
