Zwift Autumn League – Round 2 Results
An influx of riders and the first draft legal race of the league means plenty of change in the twelve leaderboards of the Triathlon Ireland Zwift Autumn League.
Last night’s race took 226 riders through the streets of London on a 31km flat out sprint to the line. It was a max effort for just about everyone in the race with the quickest riders crossing the finish line just 40 minutes after the starting gun and just about everyone completing their effort within the one hour mark.
Congratulations to everyone who took part – Zwift is all about having fun with a competitive edge and the latter is definitely evident right though the league with tiny margins separating both individuals and clubs.
Remember, a rider’s six best results from nine races will count towards their final league position – the same applies for clubs. That means it’s still all to play for, so if you belong to a club that could do with another rider or two, get recruiting and send them our Zwift Quick Start Guide.

Analysis
Belpark retains its top spot in the A Team League thanks to some solid riding by Emmett Dunleavy (45 pts), Shane O Neill (40 pts), Adriele Prina (34 pts), Eoghan Fox (32 pts) and Marco Marini (29 pts).
Most notably however, Belpark maximised the amount of points they could earn by ensuring they had the full quota of five riders line out for the A Cat. You got to be in it to win it!
Lisburn Triathlon Club might have lost High Performance athlete James Edgar from their roster but they added Sam Cordner (37 pts) and Emma Hingston (28 pts) who added their tally to Michael Sinton‘s 43 pts to leave them trailing by 106 points overall.
Enda Bagnall continues to do the heavy lifting for Edenderry TC, adding his 47 pts to last weeks 61 points to keep his club in third place.

Analysis
With three clubs fielding strong teams and the points difference fairly marginal, the B League looks sure to deliver fierce competition all the way to December.
3D Triathlon Club jump from third to first thanks to 40pts from Simon Befort, 33 pts from Neal Leddy, 21 from Kevin Gilleece and 1pt from women’s B League leader Beáta Kis.
Belpark drop down a place to second but the 55 point gap is nothing and with Mark Cannon netting 48 pts, MICHAEL BISHOP bringing in 43 pts, Luke McMullan scoring 23 pts and Conal Markey and Ava Whelan each contributing a point that margin could easily be made up in future rounds.
Piranha Triathlon Club will look upon the league table with even more optimism. With just one rider, Eric Boles last week, the club rested on 34 points. However a recruitment drive amongst their membership paid off handsomely with Boles’s 18 points bolstered by 24pts from Giuseppe Ghidini, 22 from Dave O, and a point each from 18 from Aoife Parker-Hedderman and Stephen to put the club in third.

Analysis
Belpark’s team with scorers Niall McMonagle BTC (56pts), Tom Soden (46 pts), Rahul Roy (43 pts), Alan Heade BTC (37 pts) and Alexandre Helenport (8 pts) move from second to the top of the C League.
But just like with the B League, they’ll be looking nervously behind them as Piranha have arrived on the scene and lie just 71 points behind in second place with a full compliment of scorers Paul Mooney (45 pts), David Hatton (41 pts), Darragh Kitt (34 pts), Pat Linehan (10 pts) and Adele Hall PTC (1 pts).
This all means that last week’s leaders Lisburn drop from first to third but the margin of 7 points is tiny – and Lisburn’s scorers from this week Lewis Murray (36 pts), Brendan Stone (29 pts), Martsje Westra (27 pts), and Andrew Dempster (1 pts) will know that everything is up for grabs in the C League.

Analysis
With the numbers swelling and club registrations getting straightened out compared to week 1, the D League club leaderboard is taking on a much different complexion.
Edenderrry jump from second to first with last week’s sole scorer Alan Mitchell (42 pts) joined by Priscilla Crombie (39 pts) and Jolene Craig (18 pts).
Belpark’s strength in numbers and performances right through the league is reflected in their scorers Tomás O Connell (43 pts), Diarmuid Furey (41 pts) and Cleo Jensen (38 pts) putting them in second place.
Lanesboro TC are a mere 7 points behind in third place with scores from james gallagher (56 pts), Barry Hall (35 pts) and Catherine Hanly (24 pts).
ZwiftPower’s Scoring System
Zwift racing differs from what we’ve all come to expect from in-real-life triathlon racing.
Clubs
While the league is open to everybody, the club rankings in this race report only take Triathlon Ireland clubs in to account. If you are one of the many riders who had their club listed as ‘Triathlon Ireland’ you won’t be included in the club rankings.
However it’s simple to set your up a profile for your local triathlon club on ZwiftPower and use it for your future races.
In fact, this is something we’d urge you to do.
Gender
ZwiftPower applies points to riders according to their position in the race – regardless of gender. This isn’t an ideal points solution and is something we’d like to see changed (so that women have a completely separate points allocation). However, we are working within the confines of ZwiftPower, which while imperfect is an incredibly powerful platform in other respects so bear with us.
Filtered Riders
A relatively large number of riders were ‘filtered’ or excluded from the results sheet for various infringements. The two most common were HR (having no heart rate data) and ZP (not having a verified power meter.
While Zwift racing is primarily about having fun, we have a responsibility to ensure that any race that carries our name is also fair so unfortunately if you were excluded or ‘filtered’ it is for a legitimate reason. Filtering is an automatic, data based decision by ZwiftPower designed to ensure an above board race.
