Here’s your weekly round-up of the action from around the country.
Cobh Jailbreak Triathlon
Round 8 and the BMW Triathlon National Series headed to Cobh for the Jailbreak Standard Distance Triathlon. Chris Mintern and Deirdre Casey won ahead of Donnacha Kiely and Amy O’Keeffe, with Tomás Kenefick and Katie Hickson in 3rd.
Belfast Titanic Triathlon
This Belfast city triathlon was host to the Paratriathlon National Championships as well as round 9 of this year’s BMW Triathlon National Series. A thrilling display from Laura Wylie saw her take the lead in the closing stages of the women’s race with Siobhan Gallagher taking second, Becky Wood third. In the men’s race, Aidan Callaghan led from the off to claim the BMW Triathlon National Series points on offer, Michael Sinton second, Philip Castles in third.
Rio 2016 Paralympian Catherine Walsh and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games athlete David Kerr raced for national titles in their categories at the 2018 Paratriathlon National Championship. Fresh from racing at the Tartu ETU European Championships, Donnacha McCarthy also won his category at this year’s champs.

BMW TRIATHLON NATIONAL SERIES
I-Tri Ennis
Ballyalla Lake was the site for the swim start of I-Tri Ennis on Saturday, 21 July. The Ennis Triathlon Club organised race was won by Fabian Mangan and Ella Doherty. Paul O’Brien and Murna Griffin-O’Malley finished the race in second place with Dave Murphy and Emma Boyle third.
Carlingford Triathlon
Catriona Ryan and David Sheridan were the winners at Setanta Triathlon Club’s Carlingford ‘Land of Legends’ standard distance Triathlon. Aoife Donnelly and Owen Martin were second with Aoife McEvoy and Cillian Moffat in third.

Lakeside Triathlon
MSC Triathlon Club hosted their second race of the season this past weekend – and had the same winners top the podium! Stephen Donnelly and Heather Foley were the winners of the sprint distance race.
