Sexton & McEvoy Win Hardman National Champs
Sexton and McEvoy Hardest in Killarney
Brian Sexton and Aoife McEvoy won the National Long Distance Championships at the Hardman Triathlon, which took place in Killarney.
Sexton won the race for the third year in a row and with it, retained the title of Long Distance National Champion for another 12 months.
He was fourth out of the water but once on the bike rarely saw another competitor as he recorded the quickest bike and run splits of the day to finish with an impressive time of 9hrs 31mins 40secs on a challenging West of Ireland course.
Second place went to Oscar Richards who came home in 10hrs 33mins 53secs with Nigel Keane just over four minutes behind in third place.
McEvoy Wins Women’s Race
In the women’s race, Trilogy Tri Club’s Aoife McEvoy came home in 13hrs 01mins and 22secs for victory. Second place went to Martina Cahill in 15hrs 14mins 08secs.
