Duathlon National Series and Championships 2017

The cold weather of winter might be peaking over the horizon, but for some that means it’s time to start dreaming of the 2017 duathlon season!

Following applications from clubs around the country, Triathlon Ireland is delighted to announce the line up of races that will form the Duathlon National Series 2017 and the National Duathlon Championships.

Duathlon Race Calendar 

2017’s Duathlon National Series will be made up of nine races spread across eight counties beginning in mid January and concluding just as the triathlon season begins at the end of April.

This year’s Duathlon National Championships will take place on March 12th in Clarenbridge, Co. Galway and will be hosted by Predator Triathlon Club.

Scoring

Scoring for the 2017 Duathlon National Series will be identical to 2016, with calculations based off an athlete’s best two series results, plus their result from the National Duathlon Championships.

Points

Winners of the National Championships will receive 1000 points, winners of any of the other series races score 700 points. 
Points reduce by 7.5% for the first 20 finishers and by 4% thereafter.
Note: In order to receive National Series points you must hold a full racing licence for Triathlon Ireland when competing in the event.

Awards

The Duathlon National Championships will determine the national champion for men and women. In addition this race will decide winners from each age category contested at the National Championships.

At the end of the series, the male and female with the highest points ranking will be crowned the Duathlon National Series winners for 2017. Winners in each age category will also be determined by their series rankings.
