Bring Tri Heroes to your school and inspire the next generation of triathletes. With ready to use resources and support from Triathlon Ireland schools can deliver a fun, unforgettable multisport experience.
The Tri Heroes Programme is a school-based initiative developed by Triathlon Ireland to introduce children to the sport of triathlon in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. It brings together the three core disciplines of triathlon: running, cycling and swimming, to help young people develop confidence, physical skills and a love for active lifestyles.
The programme is designed for primary school students of all abilities, ensuring everyone can participate regardless of sporting experience.
Through a series of structured sessions, pupils learn the basics of multisport while building teamwork, resilience and confidence – and of course having fun!
Typically, the programme runs over 4 to 5 sessions (approx 45 mins to an hour each) and is delivered during school time or as an after-school activity.
Each session focuses on fundamental skills such as:
The programme finishes with a mini-triathlon or mini-duathlon event (run-cycle-run or swim-cycle-run), giving students a memorable achievement and sense of accomplishment.
Schools can choose from two delivery options:
Teachers can run the programme themselves using the Tri Heroes Teacher Pack, which includes:
