Coaching Accreditation
All Triathlon Ireland Coaches are accredited by Sport Ireland Coaching.
In 2017 Triathlon Ireland piloted a programme with World Triathlon and our courses are now aligned with WT through their Coach Education Partnership Programme.
FIND A COACH
Below you will find a map of qualified Triathlon Ireland Coaches who can help you on your triathlon journey, whether you are a complete novice or experienced athlete, to achieve your goals and aspirations. TI coaches have a wide range of knowledge, experience and skills to provide the right programme for you.
TI Level 1 Coaches:
- Complete a 3 day interactive and practical coaching course.
- Accredited by Sport Ireland Coaching.
- Accredited by World Triathlon if the course was completed after 2017.
- Covered under TI insurance
- Sign a TI code of conduct.
- Complete the WADA Coach True (Anti- Doping Education) Certification.
- Complete a Safeguarding course.
- Revalidate their certification annually and complete CPD.
TI Level 2 Coaches:
- Complete a 5 day interactive and practical course with substantial post course work and assessments.
- Accredited by World Triathlon if the course was completed after 2017.
- Covered under TI insurance.
- Sign a TI code of conduct.
- Complete the WADA Coach True (Anti- Doping Education) Certification.
- Complete a Safeguarding course.
- Revalidate their certification annually and complete CPD.
How do I contact a coach?
Please contact the coach through the provided contact details. There are also many Triathlon clubs that hold coached sessions. If you wish to join a local club, please click here to see a list of clubs.
JUNIOR (under 18) COACHES
Safeguarding:
As the Safeguarding requirements for under 18’s coaches must be updated regularly we ask that you contact us to check that a coach has these up to date before contacting a coach. Contact: mary@triathlonireland.com to check requirements.
A junior coach is a qualified coach who also has all safeguarding requirements in place.
Junior coaches must complete the following safeguarding requirements:

Garda Vetting or/and Access NI.

Signed a Code of Conduct annually.

Completed a Safeguard 1 course/Safeguarding children and young people in sport course.
How do I contact a coach for a Junior?
A parent of guardian should contact TI first to check safeguarding requirements and then contact the coach directly. There are also many Triathlon clubs with Junior sections where they will have a Club Childrens/Welfare officer and junior coaches.
