Zwift Autumn League – Week 1

Zwift Autumn League Banner

The Triathlon Ireland Zwift Autumn League starts tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, beginning a nine week odyssey of racing on the world’s most popular indoor training platform.
Right up to mid December, races will take place every Wednesday at 19:20 on a variety of courses – from flat to hilly, and from time trial to criterium style circuits!
The aim is to have fun but also to provide an outlet for training while everybody’s ability to get out is restricted.

Prologue Opener

The league kicks off tomorrow with a nod to our spring league in the form of an individual time trial. This is your chance to test yourself against the clock and see where you are at before pack racing begins in earnest on week 2.

Prizes for Members

Remember – you don’t have to be a Triathlon Ireland member to compete in the league or to even go for one of the eight different category wins.

However the eligibility to win prizes for your efforts is now a Members Benefit so only 2020 Race Licence Holders and 2021 Full Members will be awarded with end of league prizes.

If you are a member, registration on our events calendar is also necessary so we know who to include.

League Format

There are nine races in the autumn league, beginning with an individual time trial this Wednesday 21st October and then visiting some of the best race courses on Zwift twice over the following eight weeks.

A rider’s six best results from nine count for the final league table.

Each week’s club scores are decided by the best three male and two female riders – so get your clubmates signed on!

Team Competition

Each week, the team competition adds the results of a team’s top five riders to compile a team score. We will be asking triathlon clubs to set up their teams on Zwift Power so if you would like to join your club team, contact your TI Club Committee! Clubs will be able to register more than one team.

There are four team competition tables (A Cat Team, B Cat Team, C Cat Team)

Make sure you have joined the right team on ZwiftPower before racing as amendments cannot be made afterwards. (In contrast to our previous Time Trial League riders must not choose Triathlon Ireland as their team if they want to be included in the team competition).

Scoring

The following points will be assigned to the finishers in each category.

1st : 61 points
2nd : 56 points
3rd : 51 points
4th-50th : 49-3 points
Every finisher from 51st onwards will receive 1 point.

Race Rules

  • No TT bikes except in the opening round
  • Heart rate monitors are compulsory.
  • PowerUps are disabled
  • zPower riders will be removed from the results (note – Triathlon Ireland has no ability to circumvent this rule and it will be enforced)
  • All riders must have a Zwiftpower account to be in the results
  • Choosing lower category than ZwiftPower’s designation will result in disqualification

Disqualification Codes

Just like in the real world, cheating happens on Zwift. One of the functions of ZwiftPower is to record data that can identify technology bugs or suspicious performances.

The Triathlon Ireland Zwift Autumn League is intended to engender fun competition between athletes, however we reserve the right to exclude a rider from a particular race under the following criteria:

  • WKG: Exceeded category power limits
  • UPG: Please upgrade; rider has proven ability to race in higher category
  • ZP: Zpower sources of power data prohibited in this category/finishing position
  • HR: Heart rate monitor required in this category/finishing position
  • ZRVG: ZADA disqualification
  • 5W: 5-minute power exceeded 6 w/kg without ZADA approval
  • REGN: Unregistered rider, would have originally finished in Nth place if not disqualified
  • 15S Exceeded 15-second w/kg limit
  • DQ: Disqualified for other reason

League results

The Triathlon Ireland Zwift Autumn League results will be solely generated through ZwiftPower. If you took part in the Summer TT Series you will notice that TI manually put the league table together. The good news is that all of the results will now be collected through ZwiftPower. You can find all race results and league standings on the Triathlon Ireland ZwiftPower Page
