2021 Sport Ireland Resilience Fund Opens for Club Applications

Following the COVID-19 Investment Programme announced yesterday by the Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sport Ireland Resilience Fund to Support Clubs is now open for applications.
Triathlon Ireland welcomes the announcement of €65 million across the five schemes of this funding programme as a sign of Government recognition of the value of sport to society and the continued hardship felt by our sport and specifically by clubs as a result of the pandemic. Triathlon Ireland will be seeking support under the NGB Resilience Fund and Resumption of Sport & Physical Activity strands and we also eagerly invite clubs to apply for financial support under Scheme Three: A Resilience Fund to support Sports Clubs.
The Sport Ireland Resilience Fund to Support Sports Clubs is intended to provide support to clubs in the Republic of Ireland who have experienced a financial impact through circumstances such as; the cancellation or rescheduling of races, the loss of income due to the cancellation of pre-booked facilities, the purchase of COVID-19 equipment or a decline in club memberships.
In 2020, ten triathlon clubs in total received a significant funding boost of €103,475 from Sport Ireland to help them cope with the financial fallout of Covid-19 under the scheme, which was administered by Triathlon Ireland. The clubs received support ranging from €1,500 to €29,000 to offset losses incurred through circumstances such as the cancellation of races, drops in membership income and the increased costs of running socially distanced training. The clubs that received funding last year are; Athlone Triathlon Club, Drogheda Triathlon Club, Limerick Triathlon Club, Mallow Triathlon Club, Piranha Triathlon Club, Predator Triathlon Club, Racing 795, Schull Triathlon Club, 3D Triathlon Club and 24/7 Triathlon Club.
