Triathlon Ireland Zwift League Triathlon Ireland Zwift LeagueIntroducing the Triathlon Ireland Zwift Time Trial League - a triathlon style cycling competition on the world's most popular virtual exercise platform.The Zwift Time Trial league allows triathletes race against each other and the clock each week during May and June.The league will consist of 10 rounds with a rider's best six results counting towards their overall standing at the end of the league.Competitors will be ranked in an overall league table and in age groups - renewing rivalries from the triathlon and duathlon scenes.Races will take place on the Thursday or Friday of each week, with selected other races taking place on Saturday mornings. Event distances will range from 8km right up to 40km and will encompass the full range of Zwift's varied courses and terrains - giving all kinds of riders a course in which to excel.EquipmentIn order to take part in the league, you will need:A membership for Zwift (you can sign up for a free one month trial, after that it's €14.99 per month). Unfortunately Zwift is not extending any discount codes to Triathlon Ireland members.A Smart Turbo Trainer or a 'dumb' trainer if you have a Power Meter that can be connected to Zwift.A heart rate monitor that can send data to Zwift,How to Sign UpThere are two separate steps you will need to undertake to race in the Triathlon Ireland Zwift Time Trial League.1. Sign Up for Zwift and Zwift Power: This process takes about 10mins but is very straightforward and is outlined precisely in this step by step form.You can also watch the step by step process on this YouTube video we've created2. Register with Triathlon Ireland: This can be done by completing this very short formOnce you have these steps completed you are ready to race!Race 1 Round 2Due to unprecedented demand, we have added a second race to the first round of the Triathlon Ireland Zwift Time Trial Series.More than 400 people have signed up for the league so far and unfortunately this was more than tonight's event has capacity for!If you missed out or are still thinking of racing, it's not too late.There is a race on the exact same Tempus Fugit TT course tomorrow morning at 10am - The Newbury Velo Weekend TTBecause this is a time trial and dependent only on the rider's effort (and not drafting or the pacing of others around you); as a once-off measure, we will accept all results from Team Triathlon Ireland riders who compete in this race.The best way to enter the race is by using the Zwift Companion App on your phone.Using the app, find the appropriate event (Newbury Velo Weekend TT) by clicking on the Events icon, then filter so only Time Trial events are visible. Next, find the event you wish to enter (Newbury Velo Weekend TT) and click the + icon. By using the Zwift Companion app you will be assigned a precise start time - if you enter on the desktop version of Zwift you will not know this precise time and will only find out when you are setting off once you head in to the event on race day (all riders are set off individually at 10sec gaps so it can take up to half an hour to get everyone underway - the earlier you secure your entry, the earlier you set off).Entering on Desktop ZwiftTo enter the race using your computer, simply click on the entry button on the race’s individual page and you will reserve a starting place. The disadvantage of this system is that you will not know your precise starting time.Some TT events have a restricted number of places so early entry is recommended.All riders have to be in the race starting area before the first rider sets off so even if your start time is later, please make sure you have logged in to Zwift and entered the race area well in advance.Confirmation of Your EntryThere are two ways of confirming your entry to a race:By checking the Zwift Companion App in the Events tab.By checking the SignUps section of the race on ZwiftPower. (head to Events > then click on the race name . Next, click SignUps.Note: ZwiftPower will generally not display the start list until the day of the race so if you require earlier confirmation use the Zwift Companion App. ResultsThere will be riders from all around the world in each race and not just Triathlon Ireland members - this means the Triathlon Ireland event is effectively a race within a race.Overall results will appear on Zwift immediately after the race and on Zwift Power a short time later. The Triathlon Ireland filtered results will be posted to our social media channels as soon as Zwift Power calculates them.League TableLeague standings will be updated after every event. Athletes final league result will be calculated off their best 6 races from 10 with scoring based around a similar model to that used for the BMW Triathlon National Series.Males and Females are ranked separately with overall and age group rankings displayed.Age groups will differ slightly from those we are used to in triathlon and will be in line with Zwift Power's age groupings:JNR: Up to 18 yearsU23: 19-22 yearsSenior: 23-28 yearsMaster: 30-39Veteran: 40-4950+: 50-59 years60+: 60-69 years Important information CAtegoriesMost Zwift Time Trials will not have different categories (riders earn rankings from A to D according to their past performances). However some - including this weekend's TT will. If this is the case, simply enter the category that you feel matches your ability in W/Kg. Categories will not be included in the Triathlon Ireland results however so are not relevant to the final league standings.Riders with Multiple Teams:Zwift Power allows users to ride for a maximum of two teams.However in order to show up in the results for the Triathlon Ireland league, you must set Triathlon Ireland as your ‘primary team’ before each event in the league. This can easily be changed to another team in the intervening periods.Disqualification CodesJust like in the real world, cheating happens on Zwift. One of the functions of Zwift Power is to record data that can identify technology bugs or suspicious performances.The Triathlon Ireland Zwift League is intended to engender fun competition between athletes, however we reserve the right to exclude a rider from a particular race under the following criteria:WKG: Exceeded category power limitsUPG: Please upgrade; rider has proven ability to race in higher categoryZP: Zpower sources of power data prohibited in this category/finishing positionHR: Heart rate monitor required in this category/finishing positionZRVG: ZADA disqualification5W: 5-minute power exceeded 6 w/kg without ZADA approvalREGN: Unregistered rider, would have originally finished in Nth place if not disqualified15S Exceeded 15-second w/kg limitDQ: Disqualified for other reasonExcluded riders will be allowed to compete in subsequent races without prejudice and previous results will continue to stand.
