22/10/2020: Level 5 & Triathlon Training

Ballyhass 2020 Generic Boat

Today the new restrictions begin for the next six weeks, as the Republic of Ireland moves to Level 5. As you know, this means that club training for adults cannot take place, and members should train within 5km of home. As always, please download the Return to Training Protocol for the latest guidelines on training.

*Updated 23/10/2020*
Club Junior Sessions can take place outdoors in pods of 15, within strict protocols as outlined by Sport Ireland. Read the full guidelines for the hosting of junior triathlon club sessions in the Return to Training Protocol.

We know that this is a difficult time for all of our clubs and members, and that triathlon is, for many, an important social and sporting outlet. While we may need to train alone for the next while, remember that your club, clubmates and Triathlon Ireland are here to support you. Many clubs have already begun implementing virtual sessions. If you're not sure of when these are taking place, reach out to a member of your club or contact your club committee, they will be happy to help.

the TI 'At Home' Sessions Are back!

Triathlon Ireland have started a new series of 'At Home' virtual training and racing this week, with lots more in the pipeline for our members in the coming weeks! The Triathlon Ireland Autumn Zwift League started yesterday, and will run for the next 9 weeks. There's loads of time to sign up as the best six races count...catch up on all the details and get signed up here.

There are two weekly Zoom turbo sessions with experienced coach and Triathlon Ireland Development Officer Gary Crossan. Every Wednesday at 7pm and Saturday at 8am, Gary takes triathletes from all over the country through their paces. This session has received incredible feedback over the last five months as being great fun and also great training! Keep an eye on our social media to sign up for these sessions each week. We'll be adding a morning option in early November and will let all our members and clubs know once this is up and running.

High performance coach Lynne Algar is back with a strength and stretch session on our Facebook page every Thursday morning at 8am. We will be adding more at home exercise sessions to the schedule in the coming weeks, so watch our social media and website for those to go live!
