Sligo Women's Try-a-Tri Sligo Triathlon Club held its annual women's Try-a-Tri last weekend, the culmination of a months long new-to-tri programme that saw more than three dozen women get a great start in triathlon. The club sent us this report:The glorious weather that graced the finale of our 9th Sligo Triathlon Clubs Womens Initiative was a just reward for those involved. With huge crowds there to support the final stage of the initiative, there was a lovely buzz in the air right from the start. The 38 participants all had their own personal journeys & goals. These goals were supported by Kate Hawney, who as well as coaching the brick sessions and swim, organises the whole thing on behalf of the club and Sheila Ryan who led the swim coaching. After six weeks of coaching all the disciplines involved in the triathlon, as well as understanding mindset with John G Coaching, the final day Try a Tri took place. Ten laps of the pool, cycle then run gave the women a chance to put all their learning into practice. The feel good factor and emotion at this event is always amazing. The focus on the event is taking part, trying something new and getting back into sport. Triona O'Donnell was first over the line though everyone who took part was a winner. This event has sold out every year and already we have over 40 ladies on the waiting list for next year.
