Junior Duathlon Championships & Youth Festival

Predator Junior Duathlon NC 2019 Start Line

The duathlon season for the country's teenage and juvenile athletes reached its highpoint in challenging conditions last weekend as Predator Triathlon Club hosted the 2019 Junior Duathlon National Championships and National Youth Duathlon Festival in Co. Galway. Congratulations to all who participated! Predator TC sent us this account of the day:

A strong soul shines after every storm

And so it came to be; the competitors that took part in the Junior Duathlon Championships (16-19) and the National Youth Duathlon Festival (U15) hosted by Predator Triathlon Club on Saturday March 16th left none of the spectators in any doubt of their strength and determination.

Challenging weather conditions that had forced the senior Predator Triathlon Club Duathlon to be cancelled in the morning didn’t stop the Juniors and Youths shining in the afternoon. Strong fields in each category ensured no race went unchallenged.

Thank You

Race Director, Tony Daley was keen to emphasise to all competitors the importance of partaking and enjoying the sport and how impressed he was by all the skills and determination on show today. A special word of thanks to all the competitors’ support teams (aka parents/guardians) that supported their Juniors and Youths. Predator TC wants to acknowledge your efforts on a day when few people would venture outside their door not to mind carry their children halfway across Ireland.

Thanks also to the Technical Officials, Volunteers, Kilcornan Estate staff and Civil Defence ambulance crew without whom this event could not have gone ahead.
