White Attacks The Pack in Leeds

Some gutsy racing by Russell White saw him spend time off the front of the race at WTS Leeds on Sunday. White instigated a move that saw him and newly crowned European Champion Alistair Brownlee go clear on the final lap of the bike leg.

The pair clearly had an incentive to work together but with Brownlee's stellar reputation and long history of winning races from the front, were too much of a risk for the leaders to be allowed get too far away by the chasing pack.

After a brave effort, White was reabsorbed in to the pack and appeared to pay for his efforts on the run - he finished 37th in a race won by Australia's Jake Birthwhistle. See full results and splits on triathlon.org
