Race Report: James McManus Memorial Triathlon Many thanks to Cuilcagh Triathlon Club for sending us in the following race report on their race, the James McManus Memorial Triathlon in Cavan.the sixth running of the eventThe 6th Annual James McManus Memorial Triathlon was held at Brackley Lake in West Cavan on Saturday 2nd June in near perfect conditions for racing. 134 athletes entered the lake for the 11am start with water temperature and air temperature both 17 degrees.In the men's race David Graham of Invictus Tri club shattered the old course record as he lead from start to finish to win in a time of 58.23. Philip Castles from Tuna Tri club finished second (for the second year running) a full 4 minutes behind the winner in a great time of 1.02:23. Local man James Keenan from Cuilcagh Triathlon Club edged out Emmett Mullan of Northwest Tri Club in a sprint finish in a time of 1.02:50 to complete the men's podium.In the women's race Ellen Vitting from Tri An Mhi was similarly dominant again leading from start to finish to win in a very impressive 1.06:20. In second was Anne Paul from Triangle Tri Club in 1.13:50 with Pamela Zarb from MSC coming through on the run to take third in a time of 1.18:10. Full results are available on Coretiming.ie.
