International AG Report: Siobhan Greer's Silver Medal

Siobhan Greer became the latest in a select number of Irish athletes to claim an International Age Group medal this year when she finished 2nd in the 60-64 AG at the ETU Middle Distance Championships in Denmark.

Siobhan composed this quick race report telling us about her day.

I had a great day in Denmark last Saturday and while my finishing time of 6hrs 42 mins was a lot slower than I was aiming for , getting silver medal position more than made up for this! The swim was enjoyable and not overcrowded ; the cycle was tougher than I expected - a savage headwind for most of the course was energy sapping!

The run was four loops around the town of Herning including running through the town's Library! The local support was brilliant with a real festival atmosphere in the town! Race day was one of the few good days that week! I had wonderful support from my colleagues on Team Ireland many of whom posted personal bests that day!

Take a bow Marijke Beltman; Andrew Brennan; Cheryl Cardwell; Estelle Johnston; David Beattie; Quentin Crowley; Liam Coady; Richie Moore; Rory Murphy; David Calvert; Anto O'Hara. And also family & friends who were there!!

A special thank you to supercoach Oliver Harkin for getting me here!

It was a very special moment running down that finishing chute in my Irish suit at my stage in life ! Unforgettable!
