Huge Turnout

The sun shone down on what has become an annual event on the primary school sports calendar in county Sligo as over 450 children between third and sixth class completed the 2017 Primary Schools Try a Triathlon. This is the 3rd instalment of the event organised by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership in partnership with Triathlon Ireland's Junior Development Officer and Sligo Triathlon Club.

Perfect Conditions

The Try a Triathlon was hosted at Sligo Regional Sports Complex and Cleveragh Regional Park on the 26th October. There were participants from nearly every school in County Sligo as well as entrants from various schools in Donegal with all athletes finishing the non-competitive event in great racing conditions.

Congratulations to all the children who participated in the event making it the single biggest school's triathlon event ever to be held in the country. A big thanks to all those who made this event such a wonderful spectacle and one that is eagerly anticipated every year with numbers growing from 150 to 450 in a matter of three years. This event could not be run without the wonderful enthusiasm, management and co-operation of Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership and thanks to Sligo County Council and the sport complex for access to the wonderful facilities.
