Chris Kitchen Elected ETU Vice President

The CEO of Triathlon Ireland, Chris Kitchen has been elected to the position of Vice President of the ETU.

The election took place at the ETU's Annual General Assembly in Rome, last weekend.

Mr Kitchen has held a position on the executive board for the past four years and has assisted in the ETU's transformation in to a relevant Continental Federation with strong financial and governance oversight.

Mr Kitchen said his election will help Ireland have a more powerful voice when it comes to decision making on rules and events at a European level.

"It's very important that Ireland stays engaged in the development of triathlon and is able to influence the direction that our sport takes."

"Our position on the ETU board will also help Triathlon Ireland in its continuing work to promote good governance in the sport internationally. For example, just last year, Triathlon Ireland helped lead a successful campaign to have term limits introduced to ETU board member positions," said Mr Kitchen.

The ETU is the European governing body for the Olympic sport of Triathlon and for all related multisport such as Paratriathlon, Aquathlon, Duathlon, Long Distance Triathlon, Long Distance Duathlon, Cross Triathlon and Winter Triathlon.

The ETU is recognised by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) as the Continental Confederation in Europe.
