Policy for 2012 Junior Squad

Selection Criteria for the European Championships and Great Britain Super Sprint Series for Juniors.
Selection for European Championship in Israel, Eilat 17th -22nd April 2012
In March 2012 all athletes will complete an 800m time trial and the Ennis Draft Legal National Duathlon event on the 11th March 2012.
- Swim results must be an official 800m long course swim time trial from a Swim Ireland sanctioned event or a time trial performed with a Triathlon Ireland High Performance Coach.
- This swim result must be submitted before the Ennis Draft Legal National Duathlon event 11th March 2012.
- Athletes must finish top three in the Duathlon event to be considered for selection.
Requirement for swim:
Junior men: 9min 30 sec
Junior women: 10min 10sec
Team will be announced 26th of March 2012.
Athletes will be selected at the discretion of the High Performance Director and Assistant Coach.
Team will travel to Eilat on the 16th April and return 22nd April
Triathlon Ireland will cover all flights, accommodation, transport and entry fee expenses for all qualified athletes, if they satisfy the selection policy.
Selection for the Great Britain Super Sprint Series through the Triathlon Ireland National Junior Series 2012
The Triathlon Ireland National Junior Series events 2012 will be announced and finalized by end of February 2012.
- Triathlon Ireland will name three competitions from the Great Britain Super Sprint Events which will be part of the National Juniors race programme for 2012.
- All youth and junior athletes will be required to compete in all Triathlon Ireland National Junior Series events.
- First three athletes both youth and juniors category will be selected to represent Ireland in the named GB Super Sprint Event, from the previous Junior National Series Event.
The format of this will be confirmed once all the dates have been announced.
Triathlon Ireland will provide partial subsidy for all qualified athletes.
Selection Criteria for World Championship New Zealand, Auckland, 18th-22nd October 2012 for Juniors.

Athletes who gained top 10 at the European Championship will be automatically selected for World Championship 2012.
Selection event for World Championships in New Zealand 2012 will be at the London triathlon event 22nd-23rd of September 2012.
Athletes will only be selected having gained a top 15 result at the London triathlon event.
The team will travel 12th of October and return 22nd October.
All athletes who gain selection for the World Championships will have their flights, accommodation, transport and entry fee expenses covered by Triathlon Ireland.
SELECTION FOR UNDER 23
Selection Criteria for the European Championship for U23 TBC
Athletes must gain a top 15 place at a Continental ITU Cup Event 5 weeks prior to the Event date. The athletes who satisfy the criteria will be selected for the European Championships in 2012.
All athletes U23 who gain selection for the U23 European Championships from inside Europe will have their flights, accommodation, transport and entry fee expenses covered by Triathlon Ireland. If you qualify from outside of Europe, Triathlon Ireland will pay the athlete a subsidy towards there expenses but are not in a position to cover compete expenses.
Selection Criteria for World Championship New Zealand, Auckland, 18-22nd October 2012 for U23
Athletes who have gained a top 10 place at a Continental Cup race prior to the 3rd of September 2012 or finish top 15 in a U23 European Championship will automatically be selected for the World Championships in 2012.
All athletes who gain selection for the World Championships will have their flights, accommodation, transport and entry fee expenses covered by Triathlon Ireland.
