Junior High Performance Selection Policy 

Selection Criteria for the European Championship for Juniors
26^th June 2011, Spain 

Phase 1 - National Junior Championship 2011 – 15^th May 2011, Dublin

• The National Junior Championship 2011 will be Fingal Triathlon Sprint Distant event.
• The event will take place at NAC Blanchardstown, on Sunday, 15^th May 2011.  All athletes are responsible for their individual entry.
• The winner of National Junior Championship will be automatically selected for second selection race which will be held at Blenheim Palace in Great Britain, (near Oxford) on Sunday, 5^th June 2011.

The second and third placed athletes must finish not more that 2% behind the winning time at the National Junior Championships.

Triathlon Ireland will cover expenses for all three athletes, if they have satisfied the first phase of the selection policy.

(The reason for the second selection race is due to the lack of quality junior drafting events in Ireland, this means we can ensure a quality event and standard appropriate for selecting athletes for a European Championship event).

Phase two - Blenheim Palace Event

• The First male and female Irish placed junior athletes at Blenheim Palace Triathlon will be automatically selected to represent Ireland at the European Championship in Spain 26^th June 2011.

A 2nd place will be awarded to the next Irish placed athlete if they finish within 2% of the first Irish athlete. All athletes who gain selection for the European Championships will be fully supported by Triathlon Ireland - travel accommodation and team uniform.

Selection Criteria for World Championship Beijing 2011 for Juniors

10th/11th Sept 2011

All entries for the World Championship must be made via the National Federation, Triathlon Ireland.

To be selected for the World Championships as an elite junior, athletes must have gained a top 10 place in a European Cup event one month prior to the 2011 World Championship eg by 11 August 2011.

The highest ranked male and female athlete at the European Championships, who has also gained a top 10 place at one of the selected European Cup Events below, prior to the 11^th of August 2011, will be automatically selected for the World Championships in 2011.

U23 High Performance Selection Policy 

Selection Criteria for the European Championship for U23

7^thAugust 2011, Kedzierzyn Kozle, Poland

Athletes must gain a top 20 place at a European Cup Event prior to the 1^st July 2011. These athletes will be automatically selected for the European Championships in Kedzierzyn Kozle, Poland on 27thAugust 2011.

Selection Criteria for World Championship Beijing 2011 for U23

10th/11th Sept 2011

Selection criteria will be the athletes who have gained a top 15 place at a European Cup by 1^st of August will automatically be selected for the World Championships in 2011.
