2012 Eilat ETU Triathlon European Championships

Triathlon Ireland will be allocating 3 men’s and 3 women’s places for the Elite race at the European Championship Triathlon in Eilat in April 2011.

If you would like to qualify for an elite entry for this race, then read on for details…

The European Triathlon Championship will take place on the weekend of 21/22 April 2012 in Eilat, Israel.

Qualification to Race as Elite

To qualify to race as an Elite Athlete for the European Championship in Eilat you must satisfy the following criteria:

Step 1

• Men – Supporting evidence of Top 10 place in a Continental Cup in 2012.
• Women – Supporting evidence of Top 10 place in a Continental Cup in 2012.

Step 2

• Send email expressing your interest to Triathlon Ireland Performance Director, stating your intended Continental Cup race for 2012.

Step 3

• The selection will be at the discretion of the Performance Director.

Triathlon Ireland must submit athlete entries 32 days prior to event start date.

Entries can be made in advance by TI but will be subject to the athlete satisfying the qualification criteria.

Irish athletes based outside of Ireland

For Irish athletes based outside of Ireland, you will also have an opportunity to qualify by submitting by email the following:  Step 1 – 3 as above.

Deadline to receive email with supporting evidence:  Friday, 17^th February, at 12 noon GMT. No late applications will be considered. Applications by email only will be accepted, as outlined above. Please do not post any paper documentation to our office as it will not be considered.

Eligibility to Race as Elite

To be eligible to race for Ireland as an elite athlete you must satisfy the criteria below:

1. You must not have raced for another Triathlon Federation in the last year.
2. You must be a Triathlon Ireland member when applying for a place and during the year of the race.
   
   
3. Any late applications, supporting documentation or fees will not be considered by Triathlon Ireland.
   
   
4. Categories are determined by the athlete’s age as of December 31st in the year of the race.  Elite and Junior (17-19).
   
   
5. Acceptance of the offer of a place must be done in writing (email is sufficient). If you do not confirm your place, or if you decline a place, then your place may be offered to another qualified applicant, and will no longer be available to you. 
   
   
6. All decisions for selection races will be taken from the official results, as supplied to Triathlon Ireland by the respective race. Any results will be subject to official Triathlon Ireland rules, and any time penalties, or other penalties, applied by the race officials.
   
   
7. Triathlon Ireland will pay race entry fee for Elite Athletes.
   
   
8. Be an Irish passport holder *

* Proof of passport must be emailed to the Triathlon Ireland office at hpadmin@triathlonireland.com. Your application will not be processed until this is received.
